Video 67: Assembling Your Team

Assembling a team around you is a vital skill for any adviser to master. It doesn’t matter if you consider yourself a lifestyle business, or whether you’re trying to build an empire. If you want to be focused on the parts of the job you love, then you need at least a little bit of support around you to handle other important aspects of delivering a great service to clients.

Video 68: Don’t Hire Staff That Need To Be Trained

One of the most common mistakes I see smaller firms make is hiring staff that can’t do the job they’ve been hired to do. While you’re assembling your core team (probably your first four hires), look for staff that are experts in their role so that you can leverage your own time.

Video 69: The Role Of The Practice Manager

If you want to grow your business faster AND have more fun while you do it, then it’s vital to consider hiring a practice manager. After all my time consulting to financial planning businesses, I’d go so far as to say it’s the most important hire you’ll ever make. Can’t afford it? Can’t afford not to is more like it.

Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination That Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business
by Gino Wickman and Mark Winters

From the author of the bestselling Traction, Rocket Fuel details the integral roles of the Visionary and Integrator and explains how an effective relationship between the two can help your business thrive. Offering advice to help Visionary-minded and Integrator-minded individuals find one another, Rocket Fuel also features assessments so you’re able to determine whether you’re a Visionary or an Integrator.
Without an Integrator, a Visionary is far less likely to succeed long-term ,and realize the company’s ultimate goals—likewise, with no Visionary, an Integrator can’t rise to his or her full potential. When these two people come together to share their natural talents and innate skill sets, it’s like rocket fuel—they have the power to reach new heights for virtually any company or organization.
